What You’ll See Here

Content

You can read my entirely-too-long About Me page and discover that I’m a web developer by trade. I write primarily on web-related issues. On occasion I’ll branch out and write about linguistics, languages, things that irritate me, or my faith. Even for the stuff I know a lot about — I don’t claim to be an authority. I’m just trying to tell you what I know.

Over the years I’ve made a concerted effort to write articles that are more concise, accurate, clear, and authentic. Almost nothing since 2018 was written in a single day. Sometimes a single blog post takes upwards of 50 hours of writing, proofreading, and research.

Over the years I’ve become less formal and more sweary. The swearing isn’t for shock value; it’s me forgoing the stress of masking how I really talk and choosing to be more authentic.

Opinions

Not only is this a blog, it’s my blog. I can write whatever the hell I want here and that includes my own opinions. My opinions are subject to change over time. They are not required to be good opinions or even correct opinions.

You will often know when I’m going to go on a tirade of poorly-thought-out viewpoints because that blog post will have “rant” in the title.

My opinions are mine alone. They don’t reflect my employer, my wife, my border collie, or my pastor.

Comments

I leave comments open on most blog posts for like a year or something. Eventually, though, I want people to move on and read new content.

I read your comments. I screen them for looking spam, excessive profanity, and for general overall not-a-dickishness. I’ll respond to most comment within 2 days. I may delete your comments if they look sus.

Calls for Social Action

Some of my blog posts may have a link to a charity of some sort. I may do this because it’s something that’s meaningful to me.

Sometimes, if someone helps me with research or proofreading, I offer thanks by way of supporting charities that are meaningful to them.

Give or don’t give. Be the change you want to see in the world.

What You Won’t See Here

Articles written with or by AI

I don’t write with ChatGPT, Gemini, or any other LLMs. I don’t even use Grammarly. Every single word I write on this comes from my own brain. When I write longer articles, I rely on trusted friends to review them for flow, sensibility, and grammar.

A handful of my articles have used AI-generated imagery

When Dall-e first came out, I had it generate images for me (I’m not a graphic designer at all). When I learned that Dall-e and friends were trained on copyrighted material, I stopped doing that.

Advertisements

I don’t want to produce revenue-driven content. I want to produce content that is useful and entertaining to other people.

I will not, and will never, put up advertisements because I’m not blogging to get rich.

Social Media

You can go to paceaux.com if you want a list of all the places you can find me online.

If you want to share my content on social media, go for it.

I don’t put “share” icons or a lot of embeds on my site because I don’t want the tracking (and I bet you don’t either).

Photos

If you want to know what I look like, check me out on social media. I have a profile picture there.

If you want to know what my wife & kids look like, tough shit.
